Backpacking along less traveled paths can be very dangerous! There are a few tips to keep in mind, that are common place for anyone choosing to embark on a trip of longer magnitudes.

• Dehydration kills, pack at least 1.5 liters per person, per day for the length of the trip. You never know when you will have a chance to refill your bottles.

• Pack for all weather types. Crucial for those starting in a warm area, then as the altitude rises, temperatures plummet. Pack accordingly

• Have a list of medications you are on, and or taking. If you get into trouble, people need to know this information to ensure you are well taken care of. It is for your safety.

• Let someone know where you are going, and when you plan on being in contact. Plan out your route and stick to it. If something happens, people will know where to find you, if not, it could be the difference between life and death.
