The World’s Most Expensive Cheeses


Although the name roughly translates to “horseback cheese,” this curd cheese gets its name from the way it was once transported, and not the origin of its milk. Generally produced in the Apennine Mountains region of Italy, this cheese is made from the milk of sheep and cows, and sells for upwards of $650 per-pound.
