4. Live Eels
Imagine a black, slimy, serpentine-like creature slinking toward you through a muddy creek bed. Now imagine that your mouth and esophagus are the creek bed. In parts of Asia, this scenario occurs many times on a daily basis. In some cases, the eel can actually be felt slithering and wriggling all the way down, and even into the belly, until the stomach acids extinguish it. Heartburn after a greasy meal sounds great in the shadow of such a dining debacle.
